Below is information regarding the specific trips scheduled for this year.

Rocky Mountain National Park
  1. Description: Dayhiking and backpacking (if possible) in Glacier Basin!
  2. Cost: $150 - $220 per person, with $200 deposit required.
  3. We will drive from St. Louis to Wakeeney or Goodland, KS on the first day. We will complete the drive to the park on the 2nd day.

Day Trip to Southern Missouri/Illinois
  1. Description: Check out the trails (new ones have been added) on the trails page to see where you want to go!
  2. We leave by 8 AM on Sunday, and return by 8 PM on Sunday! STUDENTS MUST NOT HAVE PARENTS WAIT FOR THEM. STUDENTS WILL CALL HOME TO ARRANGE RIDES WHEN WE GET CLOSE TO/ARRIVE AT SLUH!! It is IMPOSSIBLE to predict when we will emerge from the wilderness!!

Day Trip to Southern Missouri/Illinois
  1. Description: Check out the trails (new ones have been added) on the trails page to see where you want to go!
  2. We leave by 8 AM on Sunday, and return by 8 PM on Sunday! STUDENTS MUST NOT HAVE PARENTS WAIT FOR THEM. STUDENTS WILL CALL HOME TO ARRANGE RIDES WHEN WE GET CLOSE TO/ARRIVE AT SLUH!! It is IMPOSSIBLE to predict when we will emerge from the wilderness!!

Backpacking Southern Missouri
  1. Description: Check out the trails (new ones have been added) on the trails page to see where you want to go!
  2. We leave on Friday afternoon by about 4 and arrive at the trailhead long after dark. BRING HEADLAMPS!
  3. There are no camping fees for backpacking. Some backpackers may eat supper on the road, others will eat on the trail.
  4. We will return to SLUH sometime between noon and 4 on Sunday. STUDENTS MUST NOT HAVE PARENTS WAIT FOR THEM. STUDENTS WILL CALL HOME TO ARRANGE RIDES WHEN WE GET CLOSE TO/ARRIVE AT SLUH!! It is IMPOSSIBLE to predict when we will emerge from the wilderness!!

Extended trip to the American Southwest
  1. We will after the last exam on March 20th. We will return on the evening of March 29th.
  2. Deposits - are required to hold a van seat for the trip.
  3. Students will be paying for: gas, food, lodging. The deposits cover gas and lodging (and possibly maps). Bring money to eat on the road, and food to eat on the trail!
  4. Lodging is around $6 per night on the road, free in the backcountry. Gas is probably about $4.50 per gallon, highest cost (hopefully).
  5. Leaders pay nothing for gas and lodging, only their food!!

Day trip to Southern Missouri or Golden Retriever Show
  1. Description: Check out the trails (new ones have been added) on the trails page to see where you want to go!
  2. We leave by 8 AM on Sunday, and return by 8 PM on Sunday! STUDENTS MUST NOT HAVE PARENTS WAIT FOR THEM. STUDENTS WILL CALL HOME TO ARRANGE RIDES WHEN WE GET CLOSE TO/ARRIVE AT SLUH!! It is IMPOSSIBLE to predict when we will emerge from the wilderness!!
  3. If we are working the dog show, we will need to load equipment on Thursday, set up the dog show on Friday, and take down and store equipment on Sunday. Workers in the 2008 show earned $100 each for their labor.

Day Trip to Southern Missouri/Illinois

SLSC PaleoTrek 2009
  1. Description: Search for dinosaur fossils of the late Cretaceous Period in the richest dinosaur fossil bed of the United States.
  2. We will coordinate with the St. Louis Science Center for access to the bone beds.
  3. We will fly from Lambert to Billings, MT, and then drive from Billings to Jordan, MT.
  4. Students will pay one package price, TBA, which includes air fare, accomodations, ground transportation, and food.
  5. We leave by 5 AM on Sunday, and return by 9 PM on Saturday!
  6. This is an INCREDIBLE opportunity to search for, collect, excavate, and study the fossil history of North America! Plan to go in 2009!!
